CrossFit is a branded strength and conditioning program that's gained in popularity in recent years. It focuses on developing functional fitness such as endurance, agility, and balance. Classes typically incorporate exercises from such disciplines as Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting and gymnastics and use low-tech gear like kettlebells and sandbags.
CrossFit gyms are commonly referred to as "boxes" within the CrossFit community. These are not your typical fitness centers - they're often in large, warehouse-like spaces and generally don't have locker rooms or showers. The focus is entirely on the workout.
